Pictures of Architecture. Architecture of Pictures. A Conversation between Jacques Herzog and Jeff Wall.
Since the 1970s, the architecture of Herzog & de Meuron has been prominently featured in the art world through numerous projects. Conversely, Wall has repeatedly engaged with architecture in his work. His photograph of Herzog & de Meuron’s “Dominus Winery” (1999) in California serves as the starting point for a conversation centered on the relationship between art and photography. This raises questions regarding topics such as “photogenic architecture,” image and building constructions, and the role of time in photography and architecture.
Moderated by Philip Ursprung, this conversation took place in Basel on November 4th, 2003.
